After your application is submitted, Ahpra will send an email telling you that your application was successfully received.
If you want to track the progress of your application you can log into your Ahpra online services account to check its status.
Once your application has been assessed, you ’ll get an email from the Paramedicine Board of Australia (the Board) and Ahpra to let you know the outcome of your registration application or if we need more information from you.
Once you are registered you will receive an email and can download your registration certificate from your online services account.
You must wait until you have received confirmation of your registration by email before you can start working as a paramedic. It is an offence (and penalties apply) to call yourself a ‘paramedic’ or otherwise hold yourself out or work as a paramedic until you have been registered.
However, it is an offence under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (the National Law) (and penalties may apply) if you call yourself a ‘paramedic’ and have not submitted a complete application before participation day. It is also an offence to call yourself a ‘paramedic’ if your registration application has been considered and you have not been granted registration.
Please read the Board's fact sheet on using the title paramedic after 1 December 2018.
